Why are communication skills important?
Communication enhances your ability to think critically and collaborate with others. To handle difficult situations, good communicators must adapt to diverse contexts and anticipate the needs of successful communication exchanges. With good communication skills, you become a better team player and recognize that each person adds value to reaching the goal you are communicating about.
What will I learn?
In FUSION’s Communication module you will learn what effective communication skills are and the role communication plays in various contexts and areas of your life. You will explore how different types of communication — verbal, non-verbal, written, visual — and four factors in an exchange — context, purpose, audience, medium —come together and apply to the communication model. You will consider the importance of listening, giving and receiving feedback, and valuing diversity in inclusive communication exchanges.
